Aung San Suu Kyi on trial

The latest trial of Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's pro-democracy leader, opened on Monday.

She is accused of breaching the terms of her house arrest, following an incident last month when an American man swam across a lake to her home and stayed there overnight. She says he was uninvited.

The move to try her, behind closed doors, has outraged some of Burma's Asian neighbours and much of the West.

All foreign journalists are barred from Burma so our correspondent in Rangoon must remain anonymous for his own safety.
