Slump boosts communists in Japan


The Communist Party says it is taking on 1,000 new members a month in Japan, as the country suffers in the global recession.

It is already the fourth biggest party in Japan's parliament, and is hoping to win more seats in elections to the lower house later this year.

Roland Buerk reports from Tokyo.
