Whalers clash with campaigners

Two animal rights protesters have been injured in the Antarctic after they clashed with Japanese whalers.

A whaling official said the ship's crew only used water cannons in self-defence and members of the Sea Shepherd anti-whaling group had initiated the attacks.

The conservationists have accused the whalers of throwing metal and golf balls.
