Freak weather strikes Australia

An electrical storm left thousands of homes without power in Brisbane.

One energy company reported power cuts to more than 15,000 homes as the winds brought down powerlines.

A spokeswoman said 11,300 lightning strikes were recorded during the storm.

In New South Wales, record cold temperatures brought snow and hail to the Blue Mountains, near Sydney.
