G8 ministers warn of IT divide
Education ministers from the G8 group of industrialised nations have ended a two-day meeting in Tokyo, focusing on the demands that information technology places on education. The ministers said there was a danger of what they called a digital divide between those with access to the new technologies -- like the internet -- and those without, and called for measures to counter that threat both on the national and international level. The meeting was part of a series preparatory talks ahead of the G8 summit in July. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
