Inquiry shown 'copter crash tape
The Black Hawk helicopter crashes onto HMAS Kanimbla

Dramatic footage of last November's fatal crash of an Australian Black Hawk helicopter has been shown as part of an inquiry into the accident.

The helicopter crashed onto the deck of the warship HMAS Kanimbla and then fell into the sea near Fiji, killing two servicemen.

The crash is said to have been caused by a number of factors in severe wind conditions, not mechanical failure.

Seven people suffered light injuries during the accident.

The helicopter was operating off the HMAS Kanimbla, which was sent to the region amid heightened tensions in Fiji.

The inquiry in Sydney was also shown footage of the salvage operation of the helicopter from the ocean floor.
