Twenty people have died in a fire at an hotel in northeastern China.

The official Chinese news agency said the fire broke out in a bathhouse in the basement of the building in Changchun in Jilin province.

The manager of the bathhouse had just held a Christmas party for his staff.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
