A handbag that reduced a strapping New Zealand All Black rugby hero to tears has gone on sale on the internet.
The bag survived the fracas
Chris Masoe burst out crying when former All Black captain Tana Umaga hit him with the handbag to break up a night-club brawl.
The handbag, along with a mobile phone which was broken in the incident, are on sale on New Zealand's 'trademe' auction site.
By Friday, the highest bid stood at NZ$15,100 ($9,500).
The two men, who play for the Wellington Hurricanes, were in the Jolly Poacher in Christchurch after their team lost a prestigious tournament final on Saturday.
Local media reported that Masoe tripped over another man's legs and then hit him in retaliation.
Umaga, one of New Zealand's most famous players, then broke up the fight by picking up a woman's handbag and hitting Masoe twice on the head.
The handbag's owner, Nicole Davies, told local TV that a work colleague suggested she auction it off.
New Zealand's rugby fans have not been impressed by Masoe's sudden display of sensitivity.
Bidders for the handbag posted comments on the auction site asking: "Does it come with any makeup included?" and "Does this come with Masoe's girl's blouse?"
