Three men suspected of being behind the October 2005 Bali bombings have been handed to prosecutors along with supporting evidence, ahead of a trial.

The three were identified as Abdul Aziz, 30, Anif Solchahudin, 24, and Muhammad Cholily, 28.

At least two of them are accused of sheltering Noordin Mohammad Top, who is alleged to have planned the 2002 and 2005 Bali bombings, among others.

In last year's attack, three suicide bombers killed 20 people on the island.

Mr Aziz and Mr Cholily were arrested in Semarang and Mr Solchahudin was arrested in Pekalongan, both in Central Java.

"We have now begun the process of preparing the indictment against the three," a spokesman for Bali's prosecutor told the French news agency AFP.

He said the indictments would be prepared as soon as possible.

The three men will be charged under tough anti-terror laws that carry a possible death penalty, the Associated Press said.

Mr Aziz and Mr Cholily said they were both prepared to die, if necessary.

"What's there to regret? Everything has happened. My life is in God's hands," Detikcom online news service quoted Mr Cholily as saying.
