Chinese woman lets down her hair
Dai Yueqin

A real-life Rapunzel has shown off her hair while visiting her native China - all 4.2m (13.8ft) of it.

Dai Yueqin, 40, who was visiting the country from the US, has not cut her hair since she was 14 years old.

She let it all down while visiting her home town of Tong Xiang, in Zhejiang province, eastern China.

Her feat has not won her a place in the Guinness World Records, though. Thai healer Hoo Sateow's locks were measured at 5.15m (16.9ft) in 1997.

He began growing his hair in 1929, when he was 18, saying he had fallen sick after cutting it.

Hoo, from Chang Mai, only just beat his brother, Yee, whose hair measured an amazing 4.88m (16ft).
