Kazakh fireworks display kills two

Reports from Kazakhstan say that two people, one of them a young boy, were killed and nearly 60 injured when a fireworks display in the town of Karaganda went wrong.

More than 30 of those injured were taken to hospital, some in a critical condition.

Officials said the accident happened when a rocket failed to fly high enough and exploded just above the heads of hundreds of spectators who had come to celebrate Miners' Day. The authorities have begun an investigation into the cause of the accident.
