China space launch: Lawman Chen
This is a symbol of the labours of our country.

MEET THE PANEL
Name: Lawman Chen
Age: 29
Lives: Xiamen
Works: Lawyer

China is only the third country to send a man into space.

This will strengthen Chinese people's pride and encourage us to move forward.

All this shows how our research can achieve great things. China is a country with a huge population. Perhaps with such advancement we could work towards solving our food shortages.

I hear sometimes that other countries view China as a threat.

But looking back at the last 100 years of Chinese history, you will find that we never invaded other countries.

Chinese culture is not at all aggressive. Our philosophy is that of the middle path - Chinese people don't want to go too far to the left or right.

CHINA SPACE PANEL
This launch must have great implications for China's military power and development but we should look beyond this point. Science and technology can be used for good or for evil.

We should focus on this project's positive potential.

We don't war. We want progress.
