Japanese businessmen `lacking in confidence'
A quarterly survey by the Bank of Japan has shown business confidence has taken a sharp turn for the worse.

The report said companies were significantly less hopeful about business prospects in December than they had been three months before.

The BBC correspondent in Tokyo says the economic turmoil in the rest of Asia has added to the gloomy outlook.

The government is expected to unveil this week another package of measures, including tax cuts, to stimulate the economy.
