A strong earthquake has rocked the Philippine capital, Manila, causing blackouts and sending scared residents into the streets, local officials say.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage following the tremor on Friday evening.
The quake, measuring 6.4 magnitude, was located on the island of Mindoro, 90km (55 miles) south-west of Manila, the US Geological Survey said.
There are fears that the quake could be followed by powerful aftershocks.
The Philippines lies along the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire - where earthquakes and volcanic activity are common.
More than 1,500 people were killed when an earthquake measuring 7.7 struck the country in 1990.
