Wife caught after five-floor fall
A woman who fell from a fifth-floor balcony in south-west China landed in the arms of her quick-thinking husband, the state news agency Xinhua reported.

The woman had been sitting on the balcony of their apartment in Chengdu when her husband went out to buy cigarettes.

On his return he saw her falling, and rushed forward just in time to catch her in his arms.

The pair had quarrelled earlier but her fall was accidental, they told police.

Neighbours say the woman broke her fall when she hit an awning on the third floor then a power line on the second floor.

She escaped with minor injuries.

The power supply to the neighbourhood was cut for almost an hour as a result.
