Gajardo
Hanabeth Luke and Marc Gajardo were on their way to Australia
The parents of the Cornish surfer Marc Gajardo, who died in the Bali bombing, have held a private ceremony in his memory.

It is exactly a year since the bombing of the Sari nightclub, in which 202 people died.

Mr Gajardo, 30, from Carnon Downs near Truro, was in the Sari nightclub in Kuta when the terrorist bombs exploded.

At a memorial held at Porthtowan beach in Cornwall on Sunday, Mr Gajardo's parents Ray and Carole and brother Steven turned out to pay their respects.

Money raised

There was also be a fundraising event in Porthowan, where Mr Gajardo used to work.

Money raised will be used to help people in Bali who were affected by the bombing and the local surf life-saving club.

Commemoration ceremonies have also been held on Bali to mark the anniversary.

Keen surfer Mr Gajardo and his Australian girlfriend Hanabeth Luke had been on their way to Australia when they stopped off in Bali.

Ms Luke, who survived the attack, will join Mr Gajardo's parents Carol and Ray at a special memorial service for the bombing victims next week in Australia.
