Excerpts: North Korea's new tirade
North Korean military honour guard
North Korea warns that US "provocation" will be fought
North Korea has issued a new diatribe against the United States, even as the international community continues to call for talks to end the nuclear row between the two countries.

Here are excerpts from a political essay broadcast on North Korean radio:

The entire DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea] is filled with teeth-clenching rage.

The vampire US imperialists' claws have not been plucked from our fatherland's history

The government statement condemning the wolfish US imperialists shook this land and inflicted thunderous punishment on the enemies' heads.

While defending the fatherland for decades, our soldiers have worried themselves for not being able to dissolve the people's accumulated grudge, and they have held up their sharp bayonets with sparkling eyes filled with enemy-annihilating resolve.

Molten iron from the furnace is burning with hatred; piles of manure in the fields are fuming out smoke of hatred. Enemy-annihilating songs burst out of the hearts of poets who used to write songs of creation and innovation.

As soon as the spark of [the] mean and vicious plot, which foolishly burst out from the abode of demons in America, reached our land, it ignited a live volcano in a flash.

'Serious provocation'

We shiver at the thought of their [America's] crime of occupying half of our country's land for over 50 years and fattening up their dirty bodies by sucking the blood gushing from a nation's scar of division.

The greedy demon has made barren lands of war in many places in the world and developed a habit of endless exploitation

Three years have passed since the new century amid changes and hopes, yet the vampire US imperialists' claws have not been plucked from our fatherland's history.

The Bush clique, which barked war throughout last year beginning with the absurd axis of evil gibberish, has now made a more serious provocation.

The greedy demon which has made barren lands of war in many places in the world and developed a habit of endless exploitation, tried to crush a country out of its greed and is now daring to swallow our dignity and lives.

'Humiliation'

Our stance is clear and resolute. As much as we love peace and as much as we consider independence and dignity our life, we will settle the score with the US imperialists to the end by all means.

Our national defence [has] acquired an unpredictable striking force

"To respond to a hard line with an ultra-hard line", this is our unchanging attitude.

The US imperialists should understand us clearly.

Have they already forgotten the humiliation 10 years ago when they disgracefully sent a letter of surrender after being beaten up hard by us and having their noses bleeding in the nuclear confrontation arena, which they had been so eager to start and create?

Our national defence [has] acquired an unpredictable striking force.

'Invincible'

We are prepared for war and all kinds of blockades.

We have an invincible revolutionary army that upholds the heaven-sent General Kim Jong-il as the supreme commander.

They are compelled to pounce like a new-born puppy knowing no fear of a tiger

Ridiculously, the bastards are not taking the might of [our] single-hearted unity into account, while talking about improving so-called economic difficulties. Therefore, they are compelled to pounce like a new-born puppy knowing no fear of a tiger.

We will tear the limbs from the United States, which is an empire of evil and a ringleader of war and unhappiness, into pieces and make them into a proud trophy of the world's justice and eternal peace.
