In pictures: Taiwanese rescue

Taiwanese rescuers have saved more than 130 fishermen whose boat burst into flames off the southern Taiwan port of Kaohsiung. One man was reported missing.

Fire broke out in the vessel's engine room.

Dozens of the mostly mainland Chinese fishermen scrambled to the front of the boat to escape the flames.

A helicopter was sent in to winch the men to safety.

The fire continued to rage as the men were pulled off one or two at a time. It later sank.

Taiwanese television showed the four-hour-long drama unfolding.
