China arrests 80 for tax fraud
China has arrested 80 people suspected of a series of tax frauds which have reportedly cost the government nearly $400m.

The state-owned China Daily said the suspects had been detained over the past eight months in a nationwide campaign against economic crimes.

The paper said the authorities had smashed 10 criminal networks and seized about $170,000 false tax receipts.

It also quoted the Deputy Director General of China's Economic Crime Investigation Department Zhang Tao as saying that tax fraud was spreading in China and it would take a long time to rid the country of the problem.
