Thursday, September 17, 1998 Published at 16:21 GMT 17:21 UK World: Asia-Pacific Indonesia cracks down on corruption The authorities in Indonesia -- after earlier announcing a high-level investigation into the accumulated wealth of the former President Suharto -- say they'll also be looking at possible fraud involving World Bank money. The bank investigation has been launched in the western state of Sumatra; the regional attorney-general has said his office is investigating seventeen corruption cases and thousands of dollars are involved. There's been no date or venue fixed yet for the Suharto investigation. A three-man team, headed by the attorney-general Muhammad Ghalib, will question the former president over allegations he amassed a multi-billion dollar fortune during his thirty-two years in power. In a third investigation, Mr Suharto's son, Bambang Trihatmodjo, has been barred from leaving the country as police prepare to question him over the collapse of a bank.
