Bribery in Chinese station construction

Six people have been arrested in connection with alleged bribery during the construction of a new railway station in Beijing.

More people are said to be under investigation.

The Beijing West station opened in 1996 and cost three-quarters-of-a-billion dollars, but correspondents say it has long been tainted by suspicions of corruption and complaints of shoddy workmanship.

Chinese news reports described the scale of the station's problems as difficult to believe.
