Kazakhstan offers US help

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, has said his country is prepared to back the American campaign against terrorism with all available means.

He told a news conference in the capital, Astana, that this would include the use of airspace, air fields and military bases.

Kazakhstan's southern border is only 300km (200 miles) from Afghanistan.
