Severe flooding in Hanoi
Relief workers are clearing up in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, after it suffered its worst floods in 20 years. The authorities say the city's drainage system was unable to cope after torrential rain in the area. Roads were badly damaged and buildings submerged. Thousands of troops are on standby, helping with relief operations. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
