Japan has marked the 56th anniversary of the day a US aircraft dropped the Little Boy atomic bomb on the unsuspecting city of Hiroshima.
The bomb flattened everything within two kilometres of its epicentre

Children offer folded paper cranes as a mark of peace
Peace activists waved lights at the Atomic Bomb Dome
