Vietnam 'plotters' face trial

Vietnamese officials say 41 more people are to be put on trial accused of plotting unrest during anti-government protests earlier this year.

They are said to have taken part in demonstrations by members of hill-tribe communities in Vietnam's central highlands.

The protests were over loss of land rights and alleged religious repression.

Many hill-tribe people are Christians.

The authorities have already announced that 11 other people from the region are to be tried at a separate hearing.

Over100 hill-tribe people have fled over the border into Cambodia since the protests, saying they fear government persecution.

Thirty-eight have been allowed to settle in the United States.
