Explosion at Vietnamese army base

Vietnamese media reports say at least four people were injured and about 100 homes badly damaged by an explosion at an army base in central Vietnam.

The reports said 3.5 tonnes of explosives and ammunition had blown up at an army warehouse in the commune of Hoa They about 500km south of Hanoi.

Army officials are said to have begun an investigation into the blast which happened on Wednesday.

Relief workers are providing shelter for those families left homeless after the thatched roofs of their homes were blown away by the explosion.
