A war of words has broken out between China and the United States following Sunday's mid-air collision between a US spy plane and a Chinese fighter jet.

The US plane and crew remain stranded on Chinese soil after an emergency landing, while the pilot of the Chinese fighter is missing after it crashed into the sea.
