Rowdy wedding guest fined in Japan
Tokyo
The wedding took place in Tokyo last summer
A drunken guest at a wedding in Japan who kissed the bride and punched the groom has been slapped with a $30,500 fine by a Tokyo court.

His act left a permanent scar on the couple who should otherwise have been blessed

Judge Adachi
The Tokyo District Court said the unruly guest - a middle-aged man whose name was not disclosed - had scarred the couple.

A court spokesman said the groom had to be rushed to hospital after being punched and his injuries took a month to heal.

"His act left a permanent scar on the couple who should otherwise have been blessed by the surrounding people at the start of a new life," Judge Masayoshi Adachi was quoted as saying by the Yomiuri newspaper.

The Yomiuri quoted the couple's lawyers as saying the guest's motives remained unclear.

He was invited to the wedding, which took place last summer in Tokyo, by the bridegroom's father.
