In pictures: Taiwan air crash
A Singapore Airlines Boeing 747 bound for Los Angeles crashed seconds after take-off from Taipei airport in Taiwan on 31 October 2000, killing 83 people.
The aircraft plunged back onto the runway, broke into three pieces and burst into flames.
Survivors are asking why the plane took off in bad weather
The fire raged fiercely but was quickly put out
The pilot says the plane hit an object on the runway
Distraught relatives arrive at Singapore airport after the crash
