Controversy over Mexican depiction of Mary

A drawing which depicts a naked Marilyn Monroe as the Virgin Mary is at the centre of a row in the western Mexican city of Guadalajara.

Two men have been arrested for breaking into a museum Museo del Periodismo and tearing the drawing called 'La Patrona' into pieces.

They both said it was an insult to the Roman Catholic faith and the Mexican Cardinal has defended them in a newspaper interview.

Earlier in the week, the director of the museum Yolanda Carvajal resigned her post, saying that she objected to the erotic nature of the drawing.
