The BBC's Rajesh Mirchandani describes the impact of the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico from the vantage point of a plane.

Some 5,000 barrels (210,000 gallons) of oil a day have been leaking from the blown out well, 50 miles (80km) offshore, since an explosion last month.

The oil company BP has encountered problems with the containment device it is trying to put over the well on the seabed.
