Noriega lawyer shock at extradition

Former Panamanian leader Manuel Noriega has been extradited to France after serving a 17-year sentence in the US for drug trafficking.

The 76-year-old was taken from his jail cell and put on board an Air France flight in Miami to Paris.

His US attorney, Frank Rubino, said he was not notified by the state department of the decision.

He added: ''I'm surprised that they didn't put a black hood over his head and drag him out in the middle of the night."
