BBC coverage of Brasilia's inauguration

It is 50 years since Brazil began building its planned new capital, Brasilia.

Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer was appointed by President Kubitschek to design the buildings while Lucio Costa devised the layout.

This archive BBC News report shows what the capital looked like on its inauguration in April 1960.
