Haiti kidnap accused 'trying to help'

Ten Baptist missionaries from the US who were arrested trying to take 33 children out of Haiti have told ABC News they were only trying to do the right thing.

"We came here simply to help these children," said the group's spokeswoman, Laura Silsby, by taking them out of the earthquake-stricken region.

She admitted they had not obtained the proper Haitian documents for the children, but said any reports suggesting they were trafficking the children were "completely not the truth".
