Brief joy on subways as passengers remove trousers

Passengers using subway trains in many cities across north and south America may have had an unusual journey on Sunday.

Many travellers, from New York to Buenos Aires, chose to travel on the metro system with no trousers on.

The annual No Pants Subway Ride started in New York in 2002 but is catching on across the Americas.

Participants are encouraged to remove their outerwear whilst underground, and to act "normally".
