Obama says health vote 'historic'

President Obama has said he is confident that the US Senate will pass legislation to reform the American health care system, after Congress "courageously" voted in favour of the bill.

He said the legislation would bring down the cost of health care for families, businesses and the government.

The bill aims to extend coverage to 36 million more Americans and provide affordable healthcare to 96%.
