The family of a six-year-old boy who sparked a massive search and rescue operation when he was thought to have been carried away by a helium balloon have held a news conference.

Falcon Heene was discovered hiding in a box in his family's attic, after the balloon deflated after a two-hour flight and landed in a dirt field in Colorado.

The Heene family spoke of their relief that he had been discovered safe and denied that it may have been a publicity stunt or hoax.
