Obama calls for unity at UN

President Obama has apologised for the perceived past inaction of the US in his speech to the UN General Assembly.

But he added that the US now sought "a new era of engagement with the world".

He said challenges such as the environment, economy and continuing conflict could only be tackled successfully if "all of us take our share of responsibility for a global response".
