Fire crews in the US city of Santa Clara, California, rescued 24 people after a rollercoaster ride got stuck.

The fire department said the last of the stranded participants on the ride at the Great America Theme Park was taken to safety on Monday evening.

Park spokesman Jim Stellmack said the lift chain was probably to blame.

Santa Clara Fire Department's Augie Wiedemann described it as an ''unusual'' occurrence. No injuries were reported.
