Navy blasts drugs speedboat

HMS Iron Duke intercepted a speedboat off the South American coast on suspicion of drugs trafficking.

Men on the speedboat "Go Fast" were seen throwing bales of cocaine overboard before sailors from the frigate boarded and made several arrests.

A statement from the Ministry of Defence said drugs with a street value of £33m were seized and the traffickers arrested before the speedboat was destroyed.

The Portsmouth-based navy patrol vessel, which works alongside US customs, has only been in the area for a week.
