The most expensive townhouse in New York has gone on sale for a record asking price of $54 million.
The owners of the Henry T. Sloane Mansion have already cut down the original price tag by $10 million in the light of the cautious market.
The 19,000-square-foot, five-story limestone mansion features more than 30 rooms in all, including 15 bedrooms, 17 baths, a wood-panelled ballroom with original oil painted murals, marble staircase, rooftop garden, 11 fireplaces, and a modern elevator.
Paula Del Nunzio, Senior Vice President of Brown Harris Stevens Residential Sales, gave the BBC a tour of the ground floor of the luxury residence next to Fifth Avenue and Central Park.
