Peruvian miners stage stone protest

Peruvian miners have thrown boulders onto a major road in the province of Junin, in protest at what they see as a lack of government support for their industry.

It is the latest in a series of protests and violent clashes in the country, with tensions still running high between indigenous people and the government.

Peru's indigenous Amazonian population has opposed Congressional decisions that it says will make it easier for private oil, logging and biofuel companies to acquire their traditional lands.
