Obama moves to curb car emissions

President Obama has said he wants the US car industry to raise fuel economy standards in the next five years to an average of 35.5 miles per gallon.

The plan would save 1.8 billion barrels of oil by 2016 and be equivalent to taking 177 million cars off the road, White House officials said.
