Obama to revive Guantanamo trials

President Barack Obama has confirmed military trials will restart for some Guantanamo inmates, months after announcing they would end.

In a statement issued on Friday, he said military commissions were appropriate for trying enemies who violate the laws of war, provided that they are properly structured and administered.

One civil liberties group has called the move a ''big reversal'' on the part of the US president.

Justin Webb reports from Washington.
