Two shot dead at wake in Kansas

Two people have been killed and seven injured in a shooting at a wake in the US state of Kansas, police have said.

The victims of the shooting on Saturday night in Wichita were adults, but their ages and genders were not yet known, Deputy Police Chief Robert Lee said.

Mr Lee said the incident occurred at around 2130 (0330GMT) at a house in a south-eastern district of the city.

One of the injured, who was shot in the chest, is said to be in hospital in an extremely critical condition.

Police have had trouble communicating with witnesses because many of them do not speak English. Laotian interpreters have reportedly been requested by officers on the scene.

Mr Lee said some of the shots had come from outside the house, and that a possible suspect had been seen speeding away in a car.
