Thousands have been affected by flooding in Honduras
|
The President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, has declared a national state of emergency following landslides and flooding caused by heavy rain.
At least 10 people have been killed and thousands forced from their homes. Roads and bridges have been damaged and crops destroyed across the country.
President Zelaya has appealed to neighbouring countries for help following a week of downpours.
Officials say more than 120,000 people have been affected.
More rain is expected and officials fear the situation could get worse.
US soldiers based in Honduras have been mobilised, some of them rescuing people who had been forced onto their roofs.
