"Neither candidate outshone the other. But the bottom line is that John McCain needed to knock the ball out of the park and he did not do that.

Senator McCain was much less condescending than in the last debate, although he had a major slip-up when he referred to Barack Obama as 'that one'. Despite his best efforts to cover it up, it is clear that he has very little respect for Mr Obama.

Going into the debate I think undecided voters were looking for sincerity - and Barack Obama naturally comes off as much more sincere than John McCain.

Obama is able to connect with regular Americans. He appeals to our God-given desire to be part of something bigger than ourselves - for example, by speaking of our personal responsibility to help solve our energy problems and the economic crisis.

This debate only highlighted the fundamental differences between John McCain and Barack Obama - the most memorable to me being their differences on health care and energy.

We didn't hear anything new from John McCain, besides his mortgage plan which was poorly explained and left me confused.

Barack Obama did a great job in linking McCain to the failed policies of George Bush and McCain surprisingly did little to defend this."
