Former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss is facing charges of illegal drug possession and use.

Fleiss, 42, is accused of unlawful use of methamphetamine and possession of the painkiller hydrocodone without a prescription.

The charges arise from an incident in February, when police stopped her car in rural Nevada, where she now lives.

She was convicted in 1995 of running a Hollywood vice-ring, charging up to $10,000 per meeting with prostitutes.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal quoted her as saying she had "a bit of a substance abuse problem", and that she intended to seek private treatment.
