US voters' views: JD Samuel

In the run-up to the most hotly contested US presidential election in years we are asking BBC News website readers from key primary states to share their opinions and views.

Here, Democratic voters from the crucial battleground of Pennsylvania choose between their party's two candidates.

As a previously registered Independent, I switched to Democrat in order to participate in this primary.

In 10 words or less: Poet, writer, activist, independent thinker

My judgment, however, has been clouded by the constant partisan bombardment of the US media.

From demeaning statements, to the constant patronising of Hillary Clinton with misogynistic undertones, to the same old stump speeches by the candidates themselves, it's a case of "enough already"!

There are so many important issues in this primary and the US election overall, including: improving public education, eliminating worldwide hunger, ending the war in Iraq, supporting human rights and equality everywhere; and improving impoverished neighbourhoods here in the US.

I would like to vote for a woman, but I cannot vote for Hillary simply because she is the only female candidate.

I must go with my instinct. I must take a chance.

I want to believe that change and a new direction for America is possible.

I want America to have a different role in the world and at home.

I am willing to take a chance - on Barack Obama.
