Last Honduran military ruler dies

The last military ruler of Honduras, General Policarpo Paz Garcia, has died in Tegucigalpa.

He was sixty-eight and was suffering from diabetes.

General Paz Garcia ruled Honduras from 1978 to 1980, when a Constituent Assembly drafted the current Honduran constitution.

He then headed a transitional government until 1982, when he handed power to the first elected civilian president in almost twenty years.
